Seventy Five North Revitalization, Inc. was formed in 2010 to revitalize North Omaha, a community that has some of the worst rates of crime and poverty in the country. The focal point of this initiative is the site of the former Pleasantview Homes housing project, a 300-unit complex that was demolished in 2009. LBBA collaborated with Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture and El Dorado to create a master plan for a holistic redevelopment of this site under the Purpose Built Communities model.
In 2018, LBBA completed 38 units for phase 1 and has since gone on to complete 47 more units (townhouses, flats, and duplexes) for the fourth phase of the Highlander redevelopment, The Overlook.
In response to the success of the Highlander, Kennedy Square East, a 4-story, 51-unit mixed-use building was proposed. With a strong connection—ideologically and physically—to the Highlander, Kennedy Square will further the impact of this transformative area.
The client’s mission is to break the cycle of poverty and community deterioration by facilitating the creation of a healthy, sustainable, mixed-income community complete with thriving schools, recreational facilities, and other amenities that will attract new public and private investment to North Omaha. Unique, partnership-driven amenities will create an opportunity for continuous learning on all levels, including traditional education, cultural enrichment, social behavior, and more.
