Southside Terrace Phase II

Affordable + Mixed-Income Housing

IN PROGRESS

In a significant shift from the traditional landscape of Southside Terrace Apartments, one of the country’s oldest housing projects, emerges a reimagined neighborhood designed to accommodate a diverse population and foster a thriving community.

This second phase of the development will offer a range of housing options to replace the previous uniform style of Southside Terrace. From one-bedroom units to spacious six-bedroom residences, the development strives to accommodate a broad spectrum of residents with varying incomes. In addition to residential diversity, the new development aims at enhancing the quality of life for its inhabitants both indoors and outdoors. Green spaces—a large multi-sport playing field, a large playground with tiered equipment, walking paths, and a raised garden—will be located throughout the development, and residential services will be available in the largest (64-unit) multi-family elevator building.

This phase will also include two smaller multi-family buildings and additional townhouses and clusters. Concealed parking facilities located within the interior of the community ensure convenience for residents while minimizing the visual impact of vehicles on the surrounding environment.

This transformative project was awarded the Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant, which promotes mixed-income housing and reinvestment in distressed neighborhoods.
