Roosevelt Square Taylor and Racine
Mixed-use, Mixed-income Development
COMPLETED IN 2025
As a part of the multi-phase Roosevelt Square development, this new mixed-use and mixed-income project activates an important corridor situated between the University of Illinois at Chicago campuses.
A collaboration between LBBA (design architect) and Moody Nolan (architect of record), Roosevelt Square Taylor & Racine consists of 50 market-rate units and 17 Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) subsidized units which include a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom units. The ground floor includes 10,000 square feet of retail space that will be leased as a grocery store, with the ground floor commercial along the long north facade intended to help activate Taylor Street while the brick facing east relates to the more residential character of Racine Ave. Apartment building features include an indoor common space, a rooftop deck, and 33 parking spaces.
Two additional mixed-income buildings are a part of this phase along with another LBBA project, the conversion of the last remaining Jane Addams building into the National Public Housing Museum.
