Add a Title

Trisha Girdwood, AIA, is a Principal at LBBA. Since joining LBBA in 2002, she has designed over 1,000 subsidized, affordable, senior, and market-rate housing developments. Trisha's ongoing research in construction detailing and sustainable building techniques has contributed significantly to the firm's growing repertoire of best practices that seek to optimize improvements in energy efficiency and construction costs.

She is a member of the AIA Department of Buildings Working Group, which partners with Chicago's Department of Buildings, and the AIA Accessibility Committee, which works with Chicago's Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities. These groups are tasked with providing feedback regarding code, permitting, zoning, accessibility, and energy issues. Trisha has also participated in the City of Chicago's Development Process Improvement Focus Group, a group organized to help streamline the City's housing and commercial development process, and is a current member of Chicago's Cut the Tape Task Force that is working to cut down on inefficiencies in urban planning and development and encourage interdepartmental communication.

Trisha has managed several affordable housing developments across Chicago including City Gardens, Heiwa Terrace, Victory and Boulevard Apartments, and she worked on Terrace 459 – a mixed-income housing project on the former site of the Cabrini-Green housing project. Trisha is currently working on LBBA's first East Coast project: Tidewater Gardens, a large-scale, multi-phase redevelopment project in Norfolk, Virginia.
