Women’s History Month: Gwendolyn Brooks

Kicking off our Women’s History Month series, we highlight Gwendolyn Brooks a Chicago native and world-renowned poet. Brooks became revered for her sociopolitical consciousness in her work which conveyed the Black experience in America through language that resonated across the country. Her ability to impact people through her writing made her the first Black author to win a Pulitzer Prize and led her to become the first Black woman to hold many of her titles and recognition.
