In celebration of Black History Month, we want to commemorate John Moutoussamy and his contributions to Chicago’s housing. As one of the first Black architects to become a partner in a major firm, Moutoussamy was a key member of Dubin, Dubin, Black & Moutoussamy’s success with designing buildings under the 1968 Housing Act. The Housing Act provide a new source of low-cost financing that allowed for below-market rents and spurred an increase in affordable housing.
