2024 Illinois Affordable Housing Forum

Our very own Jack Schroeder was pleased to speak at this year's Illinois Affordable Housing Forum.

The session was about utilizing historic tax credits to fund projects for older buildings that might not generally be considered historic. Jack was joined by Emily Ramsey from Ramsey Historic Consultants, Maggy Jares from MTS Consulting, and Todd Wolcott from Mercy Housing.

During the panel, Jack discussed single room occupancy (SRO) building that our team has been given the opportunity to rehabilitate around the city. Generally built between 1900-1930 to house the influx of skilled, low-paid workers, SROs have continued to serve a strong need for low-income Chicago residents in neighborhoods with great access and resources. LBBA collaborated with both Mercy Housing and Ramsey Historic Consultants on a number of the SROs we have completed across the city.

Thank you IHC for housing this powerful event and allowing us to be a part of it.
