The Jackson at Woodlawn Park, Chicago, IL

The Jackson at Woodlawn Park is a 67-unit affordable housing development for low-income families and individuals. It is the first phase of the Woodlawn Park Development that replaces the existing Grove Parc Plaza. This existing distressed Section 8 complex includes 504 units to be demolished in phases and rebuilt as a mixed-income community over a 4-year construction period.

The Jackson is a transit-oriented development located at the terminus of the CTA Green Line. It consists of two LEED Platinum 33-unit and 34-unit walk-up buildings on opposite sides of Cottage Grove Avenue between 62nd and 63rd Streets. Amenities include private yards for three-bedroom family units, a tot lot play area, and extensive green building measures. These measures include managing all stormwater on-site in landscape planters and providing rooftop solar panels to heat the buildings’ domestic hot water supply.

Building Permits were obtained through the City of Chicago Green Homes Permit Process. The project is financed via the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), the City of Chicago Department of Community Development (DCD) and JP Morgan Capital among others.
