OUR MISSION

Design buildings and spaces that empower communities from within

OUR HISTORY

When Peter Landon founded Landon Architects in 1987, he was on the front line of social change.

Rather than focusing on high-end homes, he decided to design housing for segments of the population generally overlooked, individuals and families whose economic status dictates their surroundings.

As the firm built its early portfolio of both public and private housing, it was introduced to clients with varying capacities, a wide range of resident expectations and needs, and challenging, yet exciting, urban conditions. The work resonated with a sense of social equality and economy of means—a willingness to take risks to find an appropriate architectural response. Expertise in housing and sensitivity to community-specific issues allowed the firm to expand its portfolio into large-scale neighborhood planning projects.

For over three decades, LBBA has continued to aid developers, clients, and community stakeholders in navigating the architectural process and building healthy communities across Chicago and the Midwest.

HOW WE WORK

Architecture is our profession, but building community is our passion.

“The firm works hard to ensure a high quality of design. They take a craftsman approach instead of a cookie-cutter approach.”
