LBBA’s Catherine Baker will present Dorchester Artist Housing Collaborative during Chicago Architecture Foundation’s Behind-the-Scenes: Unseen City Creative Placemaking through Design Tour on Saturday, June 29. The tour will visit the Arts Incubator in Washington Park, Dorchester Projects, and the proposed Pullman Artspace to explore how arts can be a catalyst for neighborhood change, economic development, and revitalization. Dorchester Artist Housing Collaborative is the redevelopment of the former Dante Harper housing project into a 32-unit, mixed-income artist community that creates residency and long-term rental opportunities for artists. The Rebuild Foundation and its founder, Theaster Gates, are collaborating with LBBA to create a unique development that will bring art-interested public housing residents and practicing artists together. Construction will begin later this year.
